projects projects everywhere
I’m starting a new project, which I’m hoping will let me combine facets of genetic algorithms with the control of custom hardware extensions on a PC. My initial impulse is to use Python, though it may end up being easier for me to use C#. If it sounds like it involves robotics, you’re right, though the hardware stuff will likely come later on once I’ve got a proof of concept working. pySerial will probably come in handy for this. More on this later.
Meanwhile, updates to the rubhub spider are continuing, and I’m pretty pleased with what I’ve done so far. I’ll be letting it off the chain in a couple of weeks, and then relaunching the site shortly after that.
The other project that I’ve revisited recently is the Bloglines .NET notifier. I’ve decided that I don’t really like the functionality of it as it currently stands. About a month ago I turned off all of the forms of pop-up notification, because I found them too intrusive while I was working. Now all I’m left with is the tray icon, which tells me that I’ve got one or more new updates to read. The redevelopment of the notifier will be focused on providing a visual cue of the volume of updates that you’ve got. In a lot of ways it will be a downgrade from version 1.1; but I’m hoping that it will be simpler and much more visually appealing than what’s available at the moment.
