pandora and last.fm

Last.fm / audioscrobbler has an api and a protocol to push updates for music you’ve listened to into the audioscrobbler database. I would really love the guys from Pandora to consider adding support for sending updates to audioscrobbler into the pandora interface. At the moment all of the music I discover through Pandora falls into a black hole. I can add a song as a favorite, or try in vain to buy it from the Australian iTunes store (is it the Australian store in particular that hates the music I like, or just iTunes in general?) but I’d prefer to have it pushed into the audioscrobbler database for safe keeping and later perusal.

[...] At the end of last year I was lamenting not being able to pipe my music stats from Pandora to Last.fm. I found out via techcrunch recently that there’s a service that does this now, called PandoraFM. This is great to see; some time after my post, I’d layed out a convoluted plan for a Firefox extension / greasemonkey script which would: poll the Pandora window for changes to the document.title, then parse the band and song name from that, do a lookup and screenscrap from freedb.org to get the duration of the song, and then post those three items to last.fm. Once I’d worked out that it was feasible, I added it to my list of ‘things to do in my free time’ where it was never seen again. It’s nice that someone’s doing it properly, and that they’ve got support from Pandora as well. [...]

I’d like to have that feature as well.
I wrote to Tim from Pandora some month ago. He didn’t tell if they are going to implent something like it but wrote: “the genome certainly allows for the kind of control you’re suggesting”.

Some of my feature request are now possible within Pandora. I’m waiting for this one to come soon.

Cheers
