Blogs and Browser Stats

Early last week Claire and I launched a new blog for parents called Kiddley. It focuses on activities, projects and fun ways to spend time with your kids. The response so far has been terrific, and if you have kids you might want to check it out.

The browser stats made me do a double take though:

Kiddley.com browser stats

Firefox is the most used browser, with just shy of 45% of the market share. Mac usage, incidentally, weighs in at 23%. These numbers are based on about 10,000 visits over the first couple of days. If Kiddley were a tech blog, this wouldn’t be surprising; in fact, I’d think the numbers for Firefox were a little low. Here’s the same set of stats for this site, for example:

philmccluskey.com stats

But for a mainstream site like Kiddley, where the users are internet and blog savvy but not especially technical, I think that’s a really telling result.

Kiddley looks really slick - well done you two.

Firefox is the predominant browser with my wordpress plugin page, which probably isn’t terribly surprising given the blogging community, but it surprised me at the time.
