Moving back to PHP from Rails
Derek Sivers has a short but interesting post about moving back to PHP after using Rails for 2 years. I think Rails significantly upped the bar for other web frameworks and languages, and the fruits of that are now abundantly apparent. Perhaps this is slightly hyperbolic, but almost everybody who programs the web is probably better off today than they were 3 or 4 years ago because the core techniques that make Rails a pleasure to develop in have proliferated across the web.
