Claire and I had a terrific few days away in the country last week. I’ve become a devotee of paddock golf (a game with no rules and lots of sheep poo), and Amelia has learned to blink her eyes furiously whenever a dog with a bushy tail comes near.

I managed to get quite a lot of work done on Creosote as well, though given my hopeless past performance in terms of suggesting release dates, I’ll refrain from speculating about when it might be anything other than vapour.
Speaking of releases, Chandler 0.1 is out (docs). I’ve had a play; it looks great and I can’t wait to have a tinker once I clear some other projects off my plate (cough cough). Chandler also (suprise!) includes, as one of its sample ‘parcels’, an RSS reader, called ZaoBao. Just another one to add to the growing list. Don Park has some interesting thoughts here about creating a newspaper-like UI for RSS readers; I’m imagining something like Google’s news page broken into the groups of sites that you subscribe to. Very interesting.
Some interesting and off-beat links for the needy:
Fan fiction featuring Roy Orbison getting wrapped in clingfilm. I know it sounds strange; it is. My favorite is number 3. (via zerolives.org)
Transcripts from the Salem witchcraft outbreak of 1692: “How can you know, you are no Witch, & yet not know what a Witch is?”
An almost real time flash map of updates to geocoded blogs. (via nic)
Also, I’ve composed this entry in SharpMT a .NET desktop application that let’s you compose your MT entries offline and post them when you’re online; works a treat.
